One day, all students will have the opportunity to earn a college degree that provides them with meaningful economic and personal prospects. Beyond 12’s mission is to dramatically increase the number of low-income, first-generation, and historically under-represented students who graduate from college.
A college degree is the key to economic and social mobility. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, individuals with some college but no degree earn 18% more than their peers with just a high school diploma and those with a bachelor’s degree earn 62% more. Despite the fact that more young people than ever are enrolling in college, too few students graduate. Just 9% of low-income students earn a bachelor’s degree by their mid 20s, compared with 77% of their wealthy peers.
